Development Authority Nagaland (DAN) is a Government of Nagaland Undertaking under the Urban Development Department, Government of Nagaland constituted in 1976 in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 73 of the Nagaland Town and Country Planning Act of 1966 (Nagaland Act of 1966). It is a Statutory Planning & Development body and undertakes remunerative and infrastructure projects in Nagaland as well as outside the state and functions as a self-financing body. In Nagaland, DAN is the sole PSU to undertake and execute major projects funded by both Central and State Government. DAN has successfully executed and completed many Projects not only in Nagaland but in other states like West Bengal, Assam and Meghalaya. DAN has executed/ is working as Implementing Agency for various Ministries/Department such as Nagaland State Government, CSS funded projects, Nagaland University, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Schools in Nagaland, North Eastern Council (NEC), Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR), National Research Centre on Mithun (NRCM), National Research Centre on Pig (NRCP), Central Institute of Horticulture (CIH), National Council of Science Museums (NCSM), Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat, Assam (AAU), etc.

The Office of the Development Authority Nagaland is located in Dimapur, the commercial hub of the State behind the Naga Shopping Arcade, Dimapur. The present Office can be reached by taxi and auto from the Train and Bus station and is about 6km away from the Airport.

OBJECTIVE FOR AUTHORITY

The main objective of DAN is to function as an infrastructural development and revenue generating agency. It has the power to acquire and develop land and also undertake any other remunerative projects and function as a self financing body. DAN is recognized and capable for undertaking various project as a deposit work for which agency charge is realized.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

ADMINISTRATIVE STRUCTURE

DAN is governed by Board of Directors who is the sole Authority in the policy making. Presently, it is envisaged to function as an Autonomous body under a Chairman who is a Member of Legislative Assembly or a Government appointee. The Vice Chairman is the AHoD, Urban Development Department, the Secretary is deputed by its parent department i.e. Urban Development for sanction and executing all the Department activities that comes to the Authority.
